Navia: Beach, Coastal Paths and Culture

In Navia, Playa de Navia is approximately 360 metres long and can be reached from the town via Avenida del Pardo. Next to it lies La Poza, a body of water that serves as a bathing area for children and a resting place for thousands of birds.

Coast and Paths

The Paseo de los 10.000 Pasos is a circular route through Navia that starts and ends at the Complejo Deportivo Municipal de la Granja. The Senda Costa Naviega starts and ends in El Bao/Navia. It is approximately 19 kilometres long, runs along cliffs and ends at Playa de Navia. The named paths can be viewed according to route length; parks, the water festival and buildings provide different focal points. Nature and Water

The Descenso a Nado de la Ría de Navia is a festival of national tourist interest and has been held in the town of Navia since the late 1950s. In the higher part of Navia, to the south, Parque Doña Isidora offers panoramic views of Navia and the municipality of Coaña. Parque de los Patos is a green area in the direction of Playa de Navia, through which the Río Olga flows; a traditional Asturian hórreo is located there. Parque El Fornel offers children opportunities for recreation and play in the surroundings of the mouth of the Río Navia.

Getting There

The regular ALSA Oviedo/Gijón–Ribadeo route stops in Navia in both directions. Navia can also be reached via the A-8 motorway and the N-634 and AS-12 roads. Bus and road connections can be considered separately for your journey.

Culture

The Espacio Cultural El Liceo in Navia hosts courses, workshops, debates and exhibitions throughout the year. Cine Fantasio is included in the register of Asturian cultural heritage and is under comprehensive protection. It has acoustic conditions for the three complementary uses as a cinema, theatre and auditorium.

Capilla de San Roque was founded in the 16th century by Alonso López Navia y Bolaño. Casino de Navia was built between 1919 and 1922 by the architect Benigno Rodríguez. Palacio de Arias was designed by the architect Luis Menéndez Pidal for Luis Arias Martínez. The monument to Ramón de Campoamor y Camposorio was inaugurated on 19 August 1913.
