Hiking in the Pajares Valley

An easy-to-walk hiking trail leads from San Miguel del Río via Santa Marina and Llanos de Somerón to Puente de los Fierros. The four stages give the hike a clear sequence. Culinary Tradition

The local cuisine is also connected with a traditional form of cultivation: in Llanos de Somerón, peas were traditionally grown together with Escanda. Locally, Llanos de Somerón is known for its “arbeyos” (Arvejos). Escanda is part of this form of cultivation. The traditional combination of peas and Escanda is therefore part of the agricultural influences on the local cuisine; “arbeyos” is the local name for Arvejos.
