Collanzo: River Landscape, Churches and Hiking Trails along the Río Aller
On the outskirts of Collanzo, there is a recreation area beside the San Isidro River. It offers a viewpoint, road access, an area with tables and access for coaches.
Nature and Trails
In the vicinity of Collanzo are the Hoces de Río Aller, a gorge formed by the karst erosion of the Aller River in the limestone slopes of Pico La Panda and the Sierra del Campanal.
The AE-6 road connects Collanzo with Casomera, La Paraya and Río Aller. The Collanzo–Río Aller route follows this road from Collanzo towards Casomera, continues to Río Aller and crosses the Hoces de Río Aller along the way.
The Coto de Llanos route begins in Collanzo and ends in Llanos. It runs through a broad valley that drains towards the villages of Llanos and Collanzo, in the surroundings of the Salengues and Cuchu peaks.
The route to Pinganón del Caidero begins in Collanzo and ends at Pinganón de Caidero. It follows roads and paths to a waterfall. The straight hiking trail has a low difficulty level; the one-way route is 5.7 km long and takes approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Culture and History
Collanzo was the capital of the Aller administrative district until 1869; that year, the capital function was transferred to Cabañaquinta.
The Iglesia de San Juan del Río Mera, located near Collanzo, is a church built in the popular Romanesque style in the 12th or 13th century and was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1972. It stood on a side route of the Camino de Santiago and served as accommodation for pilgrims.

The parish church of San Juan Bautista de Collanzo was inaugurated on 30 June 1968. The Ujo–Collanzo section of the railway was opened in 1935 by the Sociedad General de Ferrocarriles Vasco Asturiana.
Festivals and Local Traditions
The traditional Fiesta de San Blas in Collanzo is organised by the local neighbourhood association.
