Nature

The beach is easily accessible and has a car park, showers and toilets; during the high season, a lifeguard service is available. A coastal route between Cabo Busto and the Ermita de la Regalina in Cadavedo runs along sections of the international E-9 route and the GR 204.

This coastal route passes through the protected landscape of the western Asturian coast, which is included in the Natura 2000 network for the conservation of biodiversity.

Culture

Cadavedo is a stopping point on the Camino de Santiago del Norte, also known as the Camino de la Costa, through Valdés. In 2022, Cadavéu could serve as the starting or ending point of a stage of the Camino de la Costa and had a pilgrims’ hostel.

La Regalina takes place in Cadavedo on the last Sunday in August and is recognised as a Festival of Tourist Interest. The event is held outdoors on the Campo de La Garita next to the Ermita de Santa María de Riégala; from there, visitors can enjoy views of the coast and the spectacular cliffs.

History and Architectural Heritage

The Torre de Villademoros is a medieval defensive tower in Cadavedo and probably dates from the 10th or 11th century. On 12 June 1961, it was classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural.

Cadavedo has 89 hórreos and 34 paneras. Other examples of vernacular architecture include mills, fountains, washhouses and bridges.

The Casa del Padre Galo can be visited, serves as a cultural centre in Cadavedo and hosts many of the activities organised there.

The Semana Cultural del Padre Galo includes painting exhibitions, book presentations and readings and takes place during the week around 7 August. The Premios Fernán Coronas honour a writer in the Asturian language.

Local Flavours

The Mercau del Occidente “La Paradieḷḷa” takes place in Cadavedo every second Sunday of the month; its programme includes organic, artisanal and cultural offerings, as well as leisure and wellness activities.

Rapa is a characteristic gastronomic product of Cadavedo: a cornmeal cake baked in the oven with pork products.
