The Picu Urriellu, also known as Naranjo de Bulnes, rises within the municipality of Cabrales. The mountain is 2,519 metres high and is located in Picos de Europa National Park.

Nature
The west face of Picu Urriellu forms a rock wall more than 500 metres high and is considered one of the major venues for European climbing and rock climbing.
The Mirador del Urriellu is located near Bulnes in Cabrales. It can be reached via the path to Collado de Pandébano and offers views of Picu Urriellu.
The Mirador de Camarmeña is located above Poncebos in the village of Camarmeña and offers views of Picu Urriellu.
The Mirador del Pozo de la Oración is located outside the national park near Poo de Cabrales on the AS-114 road and offers views of Picu Urriellu.
The Mirador Pedro Udaondo is located in the village of Asiego and offers spectacular views of Picu Urriellu. Asiego can be reached via a local road from Arenas de Cabrales.
Geographical Setting
Bulnes has no road connection and can only be reached on foot or by funicular.
The route to the Ruta del Cares from Cabrales begins via Poncebos.
In Poncebos, the three limestone massifs of the Picos de Europa meet. From there, the Garganta del Cares, the Canal del Texu leading to the village of Bulnes, and the gorge of the River Duje continue onwards.
The Ruta del Río Casaño begins in La Molina.
Culture and History
The Cueva de Covaciella is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Cave of Altamira and Palaeolithic Cave Art of Northern Spain.
The Cueva de Covaciella preserves paintings from the Magdalenian period that are more than 14,000 years old.
The Ruta de los Artistas de la Covaciella begins at the Museo Casa Bárcena. There, visitors can see a replica of the bison from the Cueva de la Covaciella.
The Cueva de Covaciella is not open to visitors; however, visitors can view the interpretation room about the cave at La Casa Bárcena in Carreña.

Cheese and Regional Tradition
The Cueva Exposición Cabrales presents the past and present of Cabrales cheese during guided tours lasting around 45 minutes.
The first part of the Cueva Exposición Cabrales takes place in a natural cave and explains how Cabrales cheese is made, the surrounding landscape and the life of shepherds in the Picos de Europa.
The second part of the Cueva Exposición Cabrales features an audiovisual presentation of modern-day production in a cheese dairy and ends with a tasting.
Every year on the last Sunday in August, Arenas hosts the Festival del Queso Cabrales. It is recognised as a Fiesta de Interés Turístico.
The milk used for Cabrales cheese must come exclusively from registered herds in the production area, which includes the municipality of Cabrales and three villages in Peñamellera Alta.
