Cetina: Castle-Palace and Contradanza

The most representative monument in Cetina is its Castle-Palace. The eastern tower of the Castle-Palace is traditionally known as “Volantín”, and the building has a small oratory with richly decorated Mudéjar stucco.

The Church of San Juan Bautista was built in the Baroque style between 28 April 1697 and 18 May 1708. Its interior walls are decorated with painted scenes depicting biblical passages, various saints, the Evangelists and musical figures.

The Contradanza de Cetina is regarded as a traditional performance held on the night of 19 May in honour of Saint San Juan Lorenzo. It is also designated as intangible cultural heritage of cultural interest (Bien de Interés Cultural Inmaterial).
