The Arco de la Mora and its surroundings are worth seeing. The hydraulic structure was built in the 11th century, is classified as part of the Zagri architectural system, and was constructed from brick and plaster. In the Middle Ages, it was probably built by Muslims so that an irrigation channel could cross a small gorge.

Anyone planning a holiday apartment stay in Zuera can compare the travel period, room category and cancellation conditions on the respective offer pages. During personal planning, these three details can be matched with individual priorities involving culture, nature, paths and regional cuisine.

Culture

The Church of San Pedro in Zuera was originally built in the 14th century and classified as proto-Mudéjar. It represents a transition between Romanesque and Mudéjar architecture. Its interior is decorated with brick patterns painted on plaster, as well as numerous botanical and geometric decorations.

Zuera Carnival is celebrated on the third weekend in February. The programme includes costume competitions for children and adults, as well as evening orchestras and mobile discos. Rental karts, racing karts and motorcycles are driven at Karting Zuera.

Getting There

Zuera can be reached via the Somport–Sagunto motorway (N-330 / E-7). Direct exits lead to Zuera Sur, Zuera Norte and the El Campillo industrial area, to the Polígono Llanos de La Estación, and towards Huesca.

Nature

The Montes de Zuera consist mainly of Aleppo pine forests and small stands of holm oak. The protected area includes wooded areas, scrubland, steppe areas characterised by cereal cultivation, and low vegetation. The pine forests and the steppe zone within the municipality of Zuera are included in the network of Special Protection Areas for birds (ZEPA).

The Bajo Gállego is designated as a Site of Community Importance (LIC) because of its species-rich riparian forests; the humid river landscape forms a biological corridor for flora and fauna.

Paths and Activities

The Ruta Norte through the Pinares de Zuera begins in Zuera and leads via Val de Herrera, Barranco Salado and Val de Cherre. From Zuera, the Ruta Norte reaches the Arco de la Mora via Avenida Candevanía and Camino de la Huerta Chica. The Barranco del Salado is of particular geological interest because of its gypsum geology and the sinkholes and other landforms created by the dissolution of the underlying ground.

The Corredor Verde runs along roads, tracks and paths parallel or close to the Gállego River. It leads downstream from Zuera or from the Parque fluvial de la ribera del Gállego via San Mateo de Gállego to Villanueva de Gállego. The paths of the Corredor Verde can be walked; they are easy to navigate, have only slight inclines and follow a broad route. Different types of paths and routes can be compared for personal planning.
