In Salas Bajas, ENATE offers guided tours, tastings and experiences in the vineyards at the heart of Somontano. A visit to ENATE includes a walk through the vineyards and a tour of the barrel room. ENATE combines a winery with a museum and an art gallery.

Experiences

The “Bosque de Hierro” sculpture by Vicente García Plana is located in the vineyards of Salas Bajas. One experience offered at ENATE takes visitors to the “Las Valles” vineyard opposite the winery, which houses Vicente García Plana’s “El Bosque de Hierro” sculpture. For personal planning, these offers can be organised by wine, art and the various visiting locations.

Culture

Casa de Olivera is an example of 17th-century local architecture, with a brick gallery of round arches and a distinctive portal. The Iglesia de San Vicente Mártir is a large Baroque parish church dedicated to Saint Vincent the Martyr. Inside is the tomb of Don Félix Guillermo Rebolledo de Palafox.

Villa Zazurca is the former residence of the Marquis Don Félix Guillermo Rebolledo de Palafox. Its cellar still contains vessels that were used to store oil, wine and grain. The Torno de Aceite is located on the ground floor of a former oil mill and illustrates traditional olive cultivation; the original machinery has been preserved. Preserved architectural elements, religious sites and former workplaces stand side by side in Salas Bajas as different historical testimonies.

The festivities of Salas Bajas take place on the weekend closest to the feast day of San Ramón and include a pilgrimage to the hermitage. The residents of nearby Salas Bajas make a pilgrimage every Saturday in May to the Ermita de la Virgen del Plano. For a visit, architecture, ecclesiastical history, olive cultivation and pilgrimages can be considered as separate themes.

When choosing a holiday apartment in Salas Bajas, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be viewed separately on the relevant offer page. This information provides a practical complement to the different travel themes: wine and art, architectural heritage and pilgrimages, as well as the routes described, can stand as separate focal points, while the accommodation details are incorporated separately into personal planning.

Trails

Along the route to Estaño Ros Palomos, the trails pass through vineyards, small holm-oak forests, rock shelters and centuries-old olive groves. The signposted Route de las Ermitas connects Buera, Salas Altas, Salas Bajas, Pozán de Vero and Castillazuelo. The two routes place different emphasis in their descriptions: one describes landscape features, while the other connects several places. New information panels for interpretation have been installed at the El Plano and San Fabián hermitages.
