Discover Teba: Dolmens, Cervantes and Artisan Cheese

The La Lentejuela necropolis comprises 12 dolmens spread over just more than 6 hectares and is considered the largest concentration of megalithic structures in the province of Málaga.

History

The La Lentejuela dolmens date from the Late Neolithic and the Copper Age; there is evidence of reuse during the Bronze Age. The dolmen complex includes two peristalith circles with burial mounds inside, as well as several chamber tombs.

Culture

As part of Teba Ciudad Cervantina, ten street totems provide information about the geographical context of 1594, Cervantes, his life and work, as well as Dulcinea, Sancho and episodes from Don Quixote.

Via QR codes, the totems of Teba Ciudad Cervantina offer additional information, a puzzle game and a map showing the locations of the various puzzles.

The Cueva de las Palomas comprises an underground system that served as a refuge for prehistoric communities, as well as schematic red rock paintings from the Copper Age.
