In Fuente Vaqueros, the Museo Casa Natal Federico García Lorca is housed in a typical farmhouse in the Vega, built in 1880. Federico García Lorca was born there on 5 June 1898 and spent his early childhood in this house.
Culture
Visits there are guided and begin at the start of every hour. Groups should arrange access in advance by telephone or email. Reservations can be made for the RUTA URBANA. Reservations can also be made for a theatrically staged visit to the Museo Casa Natal Federico García Lorca.
The Centro de Estudios Lorquiano preserves documentary and bibliographic heritage and makes it available to researchers. The Iglesia Parroquial Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación contains the baptismal font where García Lorca was baptised; his baptism certificate is held in the church archives. The present-day Iglesia Parroquial Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación also preserves the tower of the previous building, which was completed in 1870. The rest of the building was demolished and rebuilt in 1954.
The Teatro Federico García Lorca offers not only theatre performances but also flamenco shows, film screenings, congresses, conferences, music concerts and exhibitions. From 4 to 11 June 2026, a new edition of the cultural series “5 a las 5” will take place in Fuente Vaqueros. It is dedicated to memory, music, poetry, theatre, visual art and the legacy of Federico García Lorca.

The Puente de los Suspiros is 35 metres long and forms part of the Ruta del Agua de Fuente Vaqueros.
Fuente Vaqueros has hiking and cycling routes; the municipality provides visitors with free bicycles at the Teatro García Lorca. The Museo al aire libre in Fuente Vaqueros is a project still under development that enriches the town’s streets with motifs from the Lorquian imaginative world; El Niño de las Pinturas, Carlos Jerez and Badi Coloreando are involved.
