Carboneras reveals four distinct facets: coast, history, nature and water. Places and activities make these themes tangible. Coast

Playa El Lancón is an urban beach in the centre of Carboneras and is approximately 1,450 metres long. It has disabled parking spaces, toilets, an amphibious bathing chair, shaded areas, showers and foot-washing facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility, waste bins, children's areas and sports facilities.

Playa Las Marinicas is a broad urban beach by the fishing port of Carboneras. It has calm, crystal-clear water and white sand. It also has an amphibious bathing chair, shaded areas, showers and foot-washing facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility, sandy sections, sanitary facilities and lifeguards. The Blue Flag and Q for Quality awards also belong to this beach.

Playa Los Cocones consists of fine sand and calm, turquoise water. Its facilities include disabled parking spaces, adapted toilets, showers and foot-washing facilities for people with reduced mobility, sandy sections, a sanitary module and lifeguards.

The differences in location, length, sand, water and the facilities described can be weighed side by side when planning days on the coast. El Lancón combines a central location with a large number of listed facilities, Las Marinicas combines its location by the fishing port with awards and lifeguards, and Los Cocones combines fine sand and calm water with its own accessibility-related amenities. Culture and History

Castillo de San Andrés is a fort built in the 16th century and considered the origin of Carboneras. It preserves two of its three original cylindrical towers as well as a larger square tower with three floors.

Following its restoration in 2013, the Castillo has been open to the public free of charge. Various temporary exhibitions take place there throughout the year.

For a cultural day, you can consider the building's history, preserved structural elements, public access and changing exhibitions as separate focal points.

Nature and Water

The Carboneras–Algarrobico–Sopalmo trail begins in the northern part of Carboneras and runs along the northeastern boundary of Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.

The “Motos de Agua Cabo de Gata” water-scooter experience begins in the port of Carboneras and offers views of beaches and natural cliffs.

Hiking and water activities offer different focal points; you can take both forms into account separately in your own planning.
