Drečji Vrh – Holiday apartment between cultural heritage and landscape

Drečji Vrh is a clustered village in the Raduljsko hribovje hills and is situated on the summit of a scenic hill of the same name.

History

The Stari Bajhovec archaeological site comprises three burial mounds from the Early Iron Age.

The largest burial mound at Stari Bajhovec has a slight depression at its summit. This individual feature is one of the visible characteristics of the archaeological site and distinguishes the largest mound within the group by its shape.

The Veliki Vrh archaeological site also comprises burial mounds from the Early Iron Age, four in total. Thus, in the surroundings of Drečji Vrh, you will encounter two named archaeological sites with different numbers of burial mounds.

The Stari Bajhovec archaeological site is a cultural heritage site in Drečji Vrh and is designated “Drečji Vrh – Gomilno grobišče Stari”.

Culture

North of Drečji Vrh stands the Žgajnarjeva domačija farmstead on Žgajnarjev hrib. The location of the farmstead is thus described by its own hill and a clear cardinal direction, while its name preserves its connection to the farming tradition.

The farmhouse of the Žgajnarjeva domačija dates from the second half of the 19th century. This dating adds a specific construction period to the local history and also makes the farmstead readable as a testimony to a particular era.

The Žgajnarjeva domačija and Drečji Vrh are part of the architectural heritage. The term connects the farmstead with the village without considering the two separately from one another.

During the reconstruction of Posestvo Pule, lost or forgotten skills of traditional Slovenian craftsmanship were revived and applied. The focus here is not only on the structural restoration, but also on the renewed practical use of traditional craft knowledge.

Experiences and cuisine

Posestvo Pule offers an equestrian tourism programme. It connects visitors with horses and the natural surroundings in an authentic and experience-oriented way. The connection between animals and the landscape is explicitly part of the programme.

Posestvo Pule also includes a restaurant that follows a seasonal and local approach to cuisine. The culinary focus is therefore on the changing seasons and regionally sourced ingredients.
