Holiday apartment in Moškanjci: airfield, pond and history
Moškanjci offers an unusual view of the surrounding area: the airfield north of the village has a grass runway measuring 1,100 metres long and 100 metres wide. Visitors can fly in a two-seater glider, launched either by winch or by aerotow. During the day, the airfield can also be used by hot-air balloons.
The Aeroklub Ptuj offers further perspectives. It organises panoramic flights in a motor aircraft over the local area and the surroundings of the airfield. One option also allows passengers to jump from a Cessna 206 motor aircraft from an altitude of over 3,000 metres together with an experienced skydiving instructor. This means that very different forms of flying are available in the same place – from silent gliding to skydiving.
Nature
At Ribnik Moškanjci, the quieter side of the place becomes apparent. The pond is a managed fishing pond where walkers can linger by the water. During the fishing season, recreational fishing is possible there on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays with a day fishing permit. Fishing is permitted exclusively according to the “catch and release” principle. The pond thus combines time by the water with a clearly regulated form of fishing.
Culture and history
The past is also present in Moškanjci in the form of tangible traces. In parts of the area, remnants of the Poetovio–Savaria Roman road are still visible. A Bronze Age sword and a stone hammer axe were also found in the Moškanjci area. The chapels mentioned in the Moškanjci area include Matečkova Chapel, Vaška–Gečova Chapel and Vnukova Chapel.
The local annual calendar includes the small-sided football tournament organised by the Moškanjci sports club, which is held every year on 1 May in memory of two deceased villagers. On the same day, there is a bonfire with live music. Over the course of its history, the voluntary fire brigade in Moškanjci organised, among other events, the Lükarski or Kmečki Festival.
Geographical setting
Moškanjci is located on the railway line running through the settlements of the Municipality of Gorišnica and has a railway station. From Moškanjci, trains travel west towards Ptuj–Pragersko and onwards to Ljubljana or Maribor and Graz. To the east, the railway runs towards Ormož. The rail connections therefore form a distinct, clearly defined part of the locality.
For a holiday apartment in Moškanjci, you can then compare the specific offers at your leisure. Before booking, it is worth checking the exact location, the type of accommodation and the possible occupancy. Included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions should also be clearly stated. These points may differ from one offer to another. This keeps the decision focused on the respective terms and conditions rather than on general expectations of the place.
