Holiday apartment in Jiršovci – Roman burial mounds and viticulture

At the edge of a wooded ridge stands the monument „Jiršovci – Rimski gomili“. It comprises two partially uncovered Roman burial mounds which, at their original location, are considered an archaeological monument of the soil. Jiršovci lies in the Rogozniška Valley and extends across hilly terrain. The settlement is spread out over a wide area and is predominantly scattered across the hills. The valley, lowlands and higher elevations therefore form the spatial context in which the various forms of land use are distributed throughout the locality.

A 31 km cycling tour leads from Janežovci through several settlements, including Jiršovci, and past the Slomškova kapela. On the Jiršovci section, cyclists cross the Rogoznica stream; a mill once stood there.

Tradition and flavour

At Turistična kmetija Lovrec in Jiršovci stands a Styrian thatched-roof house built according to traditional methods, with a small museum of agricultural equipment, tools and tableware. By prior arrangement, Turistična kmetija Lovrec offers wine and homemade dishes. These include Styrian gibanica, apple strudel, a cold cut platter with tünka, sour Styrian soup and roast pork.
