Šmarjeta: Holiday apartment among wine, culture and cycling routes

In Šmarjeta, wine tasting, culture and opportunities for walking and cycling come together. At the “Izvir cvička” wine fountain complex, four of the five automated taps are used for wine tasting; wines from the surrounding vineyards are available.

Wine and regional products

Culture and local history

The cultural attractions include St. Margaret’s Church in Šmarjeta, which was built between 1909 and 1928. Inside, visitors can view a 17th-century painting of the Crucifixion. Circular route and cycling route

For walking through the landscape, there is the Šmarjeta hiking route, a 6 km circular route. The trail returns to its starting point and therefore has a clearly recognisable circular structure. Another option is the “Ob vznožju Gorjancev” cycling route. It is suitable for all cyclists, explicitly including less experienced cyclists and families. The two routes therefore differ in their mode of travel, while the cycling route is particularly broad in its target group.

Pleterje Monastery is situated in the area around Šmarjeta, as is Trdinov Vrh mountain. In the wider regional area are Oklinak mountain, the Boršt peak and Ravnina mountain.
