Route No. 5 begins at the fish farm in Srednja Kanomlja and is classified as an easy route. From Spodnja Idrija, follow the main road for approximately 5 km along the Kanomljica to this starting point. Along the route, you will reach the Klamer rock pools on the Kanomljica; after 1 km, you will reach the Kanomeljske or Ovčjaške klavže. In Šturmajce, you can visit a farmhouse with frescoes dating from the first half of the 20th century.

Culture

The Šturmajce homestead is a preserved farm complex from the first half of the 20th century. At the Pr’ Ivaniš homestead, a traditional blacksmith’s workshop that is still in operation has been preserved. By prior arrangement, apitherapy is available at an apiary and a garden with honey plants. The annual Kanomlja local festival takes place in front of the old Kanomlja school in Srednja Kanomlja. Thus, historic farm complexes, craft traditions, beekeeping and an annual festival stand side by side along the local and route connections.

The mineral collection includes minerals, ores, fossils and rocks. By prior arrangement, it can be visited at Gorenja Kanomlja 44. Rupnik Ciril Honey Products is also based at Srednja Kanomlja 66.

Nature

The Kanomlja Valley includes, among others, the villages of Spodnja Kanomlja, Srednja Kanomlja and Gorenja Kanomlja. The Kanomljica watercourse and its tributaries are classified as natural heritage of national importance. The Klamer rock pools are also located on the Kanomljica and can be reached via Route No. 5.

History

The Žličnik monument in Srednja Kanomlja is designated as a monument to the victims of fascism. The monument to Franc Sedej is a pillar built of natural stone with an inset inscription plaque made of grey marble. The inscription states that the Italian army shot the 35-year-old farmer Franc Sedej on 6 May 1943. The monument stands on Mohoričev hrib, north of and 1.2 km below the Spodnji Belobrdar homestead (Srednja Kanomlja 39).

On 10 December 1942, new fighters gathered in Srednja Kanomlja in front of the Šinkočeva House and took the oath; the 2nd Trnovska četa was founded there.
