Nature
The cadastral area of Vrbovce contains a natural monument within the Biele Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. This natural monument is part of the Žalostiná Natura 2000 site. The area around the village therefore combines the protection of a larger landscape with a specifically designated natural area. The meadows and their vegetation form an independent component of the landscape, while Žalostiná further specifies the nature conservation classification of the natural monument.
Culture
The Vrbovčianska izba was established in Vrbovce in 2001 as a local ethnographic memorial room. It displays folk domestic culture, handicrafts, work and festive costumes, as well as other historical objects. Traditional folk architecture in Vrbovce includes shared courtyards and several residential houses arranged one behind another. The original architecture of the Kopaničiari settlements has also been preserved.
Individual buildings also reflect different chapters of the village’s history. The Evangelical Church of Tolerance in Vrbovce dates from 1784. The Church of Saint Elizabeth in Vrbovce is a national cultural monument. In the Šance district, the railway station building has a memorial plaque commemorating Maruška Kudeříková.
Hiking and cycling
The routes around Vrbovce vary in length, course and starting point. The educational trail can be reached from Vrbovce via a blue-marked hiking trail; it is 6.4 km long and has five stations. Another hiking trail begins in Vrbovce at the border crossing. Another route leads around the Vrbovce reservoir and ends in Vrbovce. There is also a hiking trail that follows a paved road to Vrbovce and ends there.
Ostrý vrch is also part of the local leisure opportunities: the easy, 3 km-long recreational cycling route 5321 leads to Ostrý vrch. From there, visitors can enjoy a wide panoramic view of the Kopaničiari landscape and the surrounding area.
