Culture

The cultural character of Krajné includes two churches from different periods. The Gothic Roman Catholic Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Krajné was built around the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. Narrow, steep stone stairs lead to its tower. “Reconstruction” is listed as the heritage-preservation measure for the Roman Catholic Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Krajné. Krajnianska paličkovaná čipka is also one of the defining cultural themes of the village. At that time, two lacemakers from Vamberk in the Czech Republic taught women in Krajné how to make bobbin lace using Flemish and Vamberk patterns.

The musical expression of this regional tradition is also still present: Krajnianska muzika currently performs traditional music and plays traditional musical instruments, including the cimbalom.

Events

Local events include recurring and historically documented forms of social activity. Krajnianska prúdnica is an annual afternoon of competitions and entertainment organized by the Krajné Volunteer Fire Brigade. On March 5, 2011, Pochovávanie basy in Krajné was a long-established carnival ceremony and social event.
