Holiday apartment in Hájske: Folklore, wine and castles
Hájske represents a combination of cultural heritage, religious sites, wine tradition and connections to the regional landscape. Hájske is associated with a specific cycling route: the Okruh Podunajskou pahorkatinou circular cycling route passes through the village. Local traditions and broader regional connections meet here, without reducing Hájske to a single theme.
Culture
A particular cultural connection is the folklore group Kepeždanka. It was founded in Hájske in 1984 and is committed to preserving old Kepeždian songs, costumes and traditions. Its repertoire includes Stará kepeždská svadba, carnival customs and Christmas carols. These names reflect different areas of traditional customs: the wedding theme of Stará kepeždská svadba, as well as seasonal customs and musical traditions associated with Christmas.
History
The religious sites in Hájske include an old chapel dedicated to the Ružencovej Panny Márie. The Kostol sv. Barbory church also shapes the historical heritage of the village. It was built in 1841 on older Baroque foundations dating from the beginning of the 18th century. The church contains a classicist pulpit and a stone baptismal font from the beginning of the 19th century. Several historical layers therefore come together at the same site: the older Baroque foundations, the building from 1841 and furnishings dating from the beginning of the 19th century.
Religious customs
Hájske is also associated with a kepeždská púť pilgrimage. Such a pilgrimage took place on the occasion of the feast of the Ružencovej Panny Márie. During the kepeždská púť, a procession led from the Kostol sv. Barbory church to the chapel, accompanied by singing and the recitation of the Rosary. The procession thus brought together the church, the chapel dedicated to the Ružencovej Panny Márie and shared religious customs in a local context.
Wine tradition
Another local connection lies in the work of the OZ Kepežský štek association. In Hájske, the association promotes wine culture and winemaking tradition. It organises wine tastings and also takes part in such tastings elsewhere. The connection therefore extends from preserving the history of winemaking and wine culture in Hájske to activities outside the village.
Geographical setting
The castles Zámok Báb, Šintava, Kaštieľ Nebojsa and Neogotický kaštieľ are located in the area around Hájske. Each of these four named castles belongs to the village’s immediate surroundings. In the wider regional surroundings of Hájske are the mountains Šanec, Zobor and Žibrica. The hill Plešine, by contrast, lies in the area around Hájske. The information thus distinguishes between the closer connections around the village and the landscape features in the wider regional area.
