Discover Huty: Holiday apartment between Orava and Liptov

Huty lies at the transition between Orava and Liptov. The village is one of the three villages in the Svorad microregion located below the Svorad upland; the other two are Veľké Borové and Malé Borové.

Landscape and nature

The natural area includes the Chočské vrchy protected area. It is a protected bird area within Slovakia’s Natura 2000 system. Huty’s connection with nature is thus defined by an explicitly named protected area and its classification within the Slovak Natura 2000 system. Alongside the geographical location of the microregion, the focus here is therefore on its function as a bird protection area.

Culture and history

A large stone cross still stands in Huty’s schoolyard as a remnant of the former wooden church. The surviving object is described not only by its location but also by its origin as a remnant of the former wooden church.

Further traces lead back to the beginnings of the village. The first furnace in Huty was called Bútorovka. The foundations of Huty’s first furnace are still visible at Pecisko. There is also the historic road through the Kvačianska Valley: it once connected Huty and Veľké Borové with the outside world. The word “once” refers to the former function of this connection and preserves its historical reference in time.

Routes and destinations

The named destinations in the surrounding area include the water mills of Oblazy. They are among the last surviving monuments of their kind and are embedded in their original natural surroundings. At the same time, the water mills are part of the educational trail through the Prosiecka and Kvačianska valleys. Here, the natural area, monument, and educational trail are connected through the same location without the individual characteristics merging into one another.

The route from Huty to the water mills of Oblazy is 2.1 km long and takes 45 minutes. In addition to the destination itself, the route length and stated duration are also recorded. Concrete information is therefore available for assessing the route, while the water mills are simultaneously described as surviving monuments in their original natural surroundings.

Another destination is Sivý vrch, which can be reached from both Huty and Bobrovec. The route from Huty to Sivý vrch is particularly attractive because of Radové skaly, also popularly known as Skalné mestečko. Both names are retained: Radové skaly is the named attraction along the route, while Skalné mestečko is the popular name.

There is a car park at Horáreň pod Bielou skalou. This place is therefore identified as a separate, clearly named point with parking. The route information thus names destinations and historical features as well as a specific route length, a duration, different starting points, and the car park at Horáreň pod Bielou skalou.
