Liptovský Ondrej lies in the Liptov Basin below Baranec Mountain in the Western Tatras. The valley of the Trnovec stream has been called Filištínska dolina for more than 100 years. The first written mention of Liptovský Ondrej dates from 1352. History and Church

St. Andrew’s Church dates from the 13th century and contains wall paintings dating from the late 13th to the 15th century. The original 1480 Marian altar and part of the 1512 St. Andrew’s altar are now located in the Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest. The architectural history also includes the manor house of the Andreánsky family. According to the oldest sources and based on architectural elements, it dates from the second half of the 17th century. Manor house No. 59 in Liptovský Ondrej was listed in decisions declaring national cultural monuments. Stories and Craftsmanship

The story “Ondrejská biela pani” refers to the manor house of Pavol Andreánsky, the church and the park around the newly built structure. It is therefore one of the traditional references connecting several local sites. Even in the middle of the 20th century, linen and činovať were woven and baskets were made in Liptovský Ondrej. Alongside the stone testimonies of the past, this also preserves a named craft aspect of the local history.

Theatre Tradition

The amateur theatre tradition in Liptovský Ondrej dates back to the beginning of the 20th century; the first performance documented is the play “Tri groše” in 1910. In 1981, amateur theatre performances were resumed under the direction of the local director, actor and teacher Dušan Uličný senior. Under his direction, amateur performers rehearse a play once a year, with its premiere taking place on Christmas Day. The theatre history therefore encompasses both the documented early beginnings and the later revival, as well as the annual performance rhythm described to this day.

Route

The Liptovský Ondrej–Konská–Žiarska dolina route is both a cycling route and a hiking route. It begins in Liptovský Ondrej at a junction with a green cycling route. The route is 7 kilometres long, with 270 metres of ascent and 41 metres of descent. Its details specify the starting point, course, possible means of travel and elevation profile in a compact sequence.
