Demänovská Dolina combines impressive caves, a designated nature reserve and the diverse landscapes of the Low Tatras. There are also cycling routes, educational trails and the Jasná mountain resort with ski terrain. Culture and History

The traditional sightseeing route through Demänovská jaskyňa slobody leads through sections of the cave system that have been open to visitors since May 5, 1933. The finds in Okno Cave provide a glimpse far back into the history of the valley: they document prehistoric settlement in Demänovská Dolina.

In Jasná, an educational trail also traces the history of tourism and the ski area from Biela Púť to the Björnson Hut. The trail is 692 metres long and takes about 30 minutes. The Veľká cena Demänovských jaskýň ski races are also part of the area's history and have become a tradition.

A quiet place of remembrance is the Symbolický cintorín obetiam Nízkych Tatier. It commemorates the victims of mountain accidents in the Low Tatras. The site can be reached via marked hiking trails: from Biela Púť in 1.5 kilometres, from Vrbické pleso in 2 kilometres and from Demänovská jaskyňa slobody in 1.5 kilometres.

Nature

Demänovská dolina is designated as a national nature reserve. Several hiking trails run through the Demänovská dolina National Nature Reserve. One of the area's distinctive landscape features is Vrbické pleso, a glacial moraine lake and also the largest natural lake in the Low Tatras.

The connection between natural history and the route itself is reflected in the Príbeh vody educational trail. It is 4 kilometres long and begins at the entrance to the Demänovská Dolina valley. The Panoramatický chodník Chopok has eight thematic stations covering the national park and natural history, as well as the Liptov and Horehronie regions.

Hiking, Cycling and Winter

The Jasná mountain resort in Demänovská Dolina offers ski terrain. The cable cars at the Jasná mountain resort provide access to an altitude of 2,004 metres above sea level, below Chopok. During the summer season, more than 40 sheep of the Valaška breed can be seen at Salaš Priehyba in Jasná.

The cycling options are also described specifically: the Jasná Bike Park has two bike trails, the Flow trail and the Sport trail. The Demänovská Dolina – Jaskyňa Slobody – Jasná – Tri vody cycling route is 12.4 kilometres long. This means that different types of routes coexist in the same valley, from a natural history educational trail to a designated cycling route and the trails in the bike park.
