Holiday apartment in Teplička nad Váhom: History and Activities

Teplička nad Váhom already appears in a written source from 1267 under the name Toplucha. This early reference opens a local history in which historical names, religious buildings, economic traces, an annually recurring market and sporting venues come together to form an unusually broad range of themes.

History

The historical name Teplica referred to hot springs. In 1757, Teplička nad Váhom was granted the right to hold annual markets. In 1767, the settlement became the seat of a textile manufactory, where mainly linen, cotton and wool textiles were produced and leather was processed. The chronology leads from an older name tradition through a market privilege to a clearly described commercial production sector. Culture

Teplička nad Váhom Castle was originally built towards the end of the 16th century in the Renaissance style and is a national cultural monument. Market Tradition

The Svätomartinský jarmok takes place every November in Námestie sv. Floriána in Teplička nad Váhom. At the market, vendors of wooden, woven, clay and ceramic goods were invited to demonstrate their products on site. The market was planned to offer honey and honey products, gingerbread, cakes, sausages and other foods. In addition to the fixed November date, both craft demonstrations and a varied range of goods are therefore part of the traditional event. Activities

The Cyklomagistrála Vodné dielo Žilina–Terchová runs through Teplička nad Váhom. The route is slightly more than 23 kilometres long and includes 18 bridges and footbridges. The Straník launch site is suitable for pilots of all categories, including beginners; numerous schools use it for training. The official landing area at Straník measures 50 × 50 metres and is marked by a red-and-white band near a windsock. The Straník–Teplička nad Váhom ski resort is located in the Malá Fatra region. The cycling route, flying area and ski resort are presented here alongside one another, each with its own spatial and sporting characteristics.
