Holiday apartment in Budča: Boky educational trail and historic sites

Budča combines striking natural landscapes with a complex local history. The Boky educational trail is particularly characteristic: 13 stations await you along its 5.1-kilometre route. It begins 1.5 kilometres beyond Budča at the mouth of the Sietno Valley. Hiking and nature

The Boky National Nature Reserve protects plant and animal species that thrive in warm, dry conditions, as well as geomorphological formations. This means that special ecological communities and striking rock formations exist side by side there. The educational trail provides access to this natural area along its 13 stations.

One of the striking natural formations is Čertova skala, a mushroom-shaped rock formation. It was created by the weathering of an andesitic volcanic bomb. An excursion route leads from Turová via Turovský vodopád, Tŕnie, Budička, Hrabiny and Čertova skala to Budča. Another main route runs from Zvolen to the Vodácky tábor in Budča and takes two hours.

Culture and history

Various historical layers are also visible in Budča's townscape. St. Michael's Church features Gothic architecture from the 14th century and was renovated in 1926. A Gothic church stood in Budča by 1239 at the latest. The Evangelical bell tower was built in 1939, adding a 20th-century structure to the historic townscape.

Another memorial site is the SNP monument in Budča. It commemorates fallen soldiers and civilians who took part in the Slovak National Uprising in 1944 and became partisans. Historically, Budča was also a stagecoach station on the Banská Bystrica–Banská Štiavnica route.

The combination of the nature reserve, educational trail, striking rock formations and named routes gives a stay different points of focus.
