Holiday apartment in Ratkovské Bystré – church, trails and nature

Several precise features of the village can be discerned at the Evangelical church in Ratkovské Bystré. The present Evangelical church was built in 1787 on the site of an earlier church and renovated in 1855 and 1889. The building is a Baroque-Classical hall church with a semicircular altar apse. The interior is fitted with three Prussian vaults featuring stucco ornamentation. In the Central Register of the Slovak Monument Fund, the church is listed under number 994/1.

Events

The Ratkovské Bystré Village Day bears the name “Deň obce” and takes place regularly every year. The “Deň obce” includes a cultural programme, a sports programme and a children’s day. The Village Day thus brings together three explicitly named programme sections under one common name.

Cycling and hiking trails

The designated cycling route 5575 “Cez Železník” runs from Tisovec via Sedlo Dielik, Nemcová and Škaredá to Ratkovské Bystré. The “Cyklocesta Márie Séči” cycling route also passes through Ratkovské Bystré; it was not built as an independent route. The hiking trails crossing the area of Ratkovské Bystré include the educational trail “Náučný chodník k Muránskemu hradu”. The three names remain distinct: the first refers to a designated route with a number, the second to a cycling route that was not built independently, and the third to an educational trail among the area’s hiking trails.

Community life

The local ECAV congregation holds services in Ratkovské Bystré on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. This specifies a fixed day of the week and exact time for the congregation’s religious life.

Nature

Two sweet chestnut trees exist under the name “Gaštany v Ratkovskom Bystrom”. Their trunk circumferences are 515 and 345 cm, and their crown diameters are 15 and 19 m. The designation therefore refers to two individual trees, for each of which the trunk circumference and crown diameter are specified.
