Muráň Castle is located above the village of Muráň and is the third-highest castle in Slovakia. It was first mentioned in writing as “castrum Mvran” as early as 1271. The ruins of Muráň Castle are almost 360 metres long and 96 metres high.

The Veľká lúka meadow is part of the Muránska planina landscape. It is the largest meadow on the karst plateau of Muránska planina. A stud farm built in 1950 stands at its northern end. At Veľká lúka, horses are kept year-round under natural conditions; they graze freely in the meadows of Muránska planina.

Visit

A registration two days in advance at the municipal office in Muráň is required to visit the Múzeum Muráň. The Muránska strela tourist train connects the square in Muráň with Sysľovisko.
