Holiday apartment in Šíd: hiking, church and mineral springs
Šíd offers several clearly distinguishable ways of approaching a place: architecture, observations of nature and paths leading into the landscape. Those interested in different facets can consider architectural details, geological phenomena and a trail route structured by markings side by side. Each topic represents a separate facet of the place.
Culture
The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Name of Mary in Šíd was built in 1896–1897 in the historicist style. It has a single-nave floor plan, which determines the church’s clear basic form. Šíd has a Neoclassical manor house dating from 1880; today it houses the Šíd municipal office. Alongside the ecclesiastical building, there is therefore a secular building whose present-day function is directly connected with the municipality. A paleontological site in Šíd supplements the architectural evidence with exposed skeletons of mammoths, rhinoceros-like carnivores and other animals.
Nature
Mineral springs emerge in the cadastral area of Šíd. The LC-73 spring near the Šíd municipal spring is in a natural, undeveloped state. It can be observed through occasional bubbles emerging in a stream; its water is not used at all. The “Prameň pri železničnej stanici” mineral spring is located near the railway station in Šíd. The spatial reference points thus range from the cadastral area and the municipal spring to the railway station area, while the LC-73 spring and the mineral spring each retain their own name.
Hiking
A green-marked hiking trail begins in Šíd. It leads to the Veľký Bučeň saddle. At the saddle, the trail connects to a red-marked hiking trail that continues to the 514-metre-high summit of Veľký Bučeň. The route is clearly structured by its starting point, saddle, change of markings and summit. From the green section out of Šíd, it first leads to the saddle; there, the described connection continues along the red-marked trail to the summit.
The railway connection is also specifically named: Šíd is listed as a stop in the timetable for railway line 160. The place therefore appears within an explicitly named railway connection.

If there are several options, you can compare the same points side by side and understand the differences based on the specific offer information. Before booking, you can also check whether the selected accommodation type and the stated occupancy suit your expectations. What matters are the details actually listed for the individual offer, not general expectations of the place.
