Predajnianske vodopády is an 11.70-hectare natural monument protecting cascading waterfalls, rock fields, and preserved plant and animal communities of the submontane zone.

Nature and landscape

Predajná lies in the valley of the Jasenský stream. The municipality is surrounded by the Low Tatras to the north and the Slovak Ore Mountains to the south. Part of Predajná’s northern outskirts lies in the protected zone of Low Tatras National Park, while the southern part lies in the protected zone of the Poľana Landscape Protected Area.

Other protected natural areas include Predajnianska slatina, an 11.35-hectare nature reserve protecting wetland communities with protected and endangered plant and animal species. Jajkovská sutina is a 50.91-hectare natural monument protecting naturally formed rock screes in the Slovak Ore Mountains.

A marked trail leads through the Predajnianske Čelno valley to Predajnianske vodopády.

Culture

The present-day church in Predajná was built between 1605 and 1612 in the Late Gothic style. The Predajná Calvary, consisting of a church and four chapels, was established on Hrádok Hill; the site was consecrated in 1873.

The Predajná water mill with its millrace is a national cultural monument on Bečovská Street. It has technical mill equipment that is exceptionally rare in Slovakia in being completely preserved.

Kelemenov tunel is a technical monument within the Predajnianske vodopády protected area and is considered the only tunnel in Central Europe located on a forest road.

Traditions and sports

On 15 September, the Calvary becomes the site of the parish’s largest indulgence festival; pilgrims from the surrounding parishes come to this celebration. Since the 1950s, people have regularly climbed Hrb; at the end of the 1990s, the tradition developed into a larger public event.

The Klub biatlonu Predajná organizes biathlon sporting events at the Šimáň shooting range in Predajná.

Predajná has a railway stop with published arrival and departure times; the timetable is valid from 16 March 2026 to 12 December 2026.
