Uzlina in the Danube Delta: Waterways, Water Lilies and Boat Routes

Landscape and Location

Uzlina is located in the southern part of the Danube Delta on the St Gheorghe branch. The village can only be reached by boat from the direction of Murighiol, so this boat journey must be taken into account when planning. Lacul Isac is located in an area accessible exclusively by waterways. Lacul Pojarnia can also only be reached by boat from Lacul Uzlina.

The village and the lakes mentioned are therefore closely connected by water. Adjacent canals and lakes, including Lacul Uzlina, connect Lacul Isac to the network of waterways. Access to the individual points mentioned is therefore not via a land route, but via the waterway network.

Waterways

Route 7 is a navigable visitor route through Uzlina. It runs from Murighiol via Uzlina, Lacul Uzlina, Lacul Isac and Gârla Perivolovca back to Murighiol. The route thus connects several named water stops along its course without losing its character as a navigable visitor route.

An extension leads from Lacul Uzlina and Lacul Isac via the Isac-2 Canal, the Litcov Canal, the Ceamurlia Canal, the Crişan Canal and the Sulina branch to Crişan. The boat tour “Traseu 5 Lacuri la Apus” passes through the village of Uzlina and along Lacul Uzlina. White and yellow water lilies can be seen on the section of this tour on Lacul Uzlina.

On the extended route, the two lakes are at the beginning of the section mentioned, before the route continues via several canals and the Sulina branch to Crişan. Route 7, on the other hand, remains described as a circular route returning to Murighiol.

Nature

Lacul Isac is connected to adjacent canals and lakes, including Lacul Uzlina. Reeds are part of the predominant vegetation at Lacul Isac. Cattails also characterize the predominant vegetation there. White water lilies are among the plants mentioned at the lake, as are yellow water lilies.

Lacul Isac provides a habitat for carp. Catfish also find a habitat there. Pike are likewise among the fish species for which Lacul Isac is described as a habitat. Zander and perch complete these fish species.

Lacul Isac provides a habitat for pelicans. Swans also find a habitat there. Cormorants are among the other bird species mentioned. Lacul Isac is frequently visited by recreational anglers.

Reeds, cattails, and white and yellow water lilies characterize the shore vegetation at Lacul Isac; the lake provides a habitat for carp, catfish, pike, zander and perch. Pelicans, swans and cormorants are also among the bird species mentioned. Visits by recreational anglers are described as a separate use of the lake.

Access

A tourist permit is required to access the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. The permit is valid together with the tourist access permit for the RBDD. Anyone wishing to use the waterways around Uzlina and Lacul Isac should take this access requirement into account when planning.

Preparation therefore includes both the boat journey to Uzlina and the permit for access to the biosphere reserve. Its validity together with the tourist access permit for the RBDD is expressly part of this requirement.
