Partizani on the Sulina Arm in the Danube Delta

Partizani is located on the right bank of the Sulina Arm and retains the character of a typical, peaceful delta village. Long footbridges, waterfront properties and boats hauled up along the bank shape the village landscape. Between stretches of water, village paths and regional destinations in the Danube Delta, visitors can enjoy a stay combining nature observation, excursions on the water and individual traces of history.

Waterways and arrival

The Tulcea–Sulina passenger route passes through Partizani, Maliuc, Gorgova, Crișan and Sulina. In addition, a tourist route runs along the Sulina Arm through the villages of Gorgova, Maliuc and Partizani, which can be visited. Thus, both the journey on the water and the sequence of villages along the bank form part of the Delta’s geographic context.

By car, Partizani can be reached via Nufăru and a ferry crossing of the Sfântu-Gheorghe Arm. From Partizani, boat trips on the Sulina Arm as well as to lakes and canals in the central Danube Delta are possible. Activities offered from Partizani also include boat trips, birdwatching and guided tours in the Danube Delta. For trips on the water, current departure times and, for guided tours, the respective dates should be checked before the start of the journey.

Fishing and waters

The fishing area designated for Partizani covers the Sulina Arm between Mm 29 and Mm 34. Lake Tătaru is one of the fishing waters assigned to Partizani. In addition, the Sulina Arm and nearby lakes at Partizani are associated with carp fishing. The areas mentioned therefore differ in their specific assignment and in the waters associated with fishing.

Boats, lakes and canals provide different starting points for excursions in the central Danube Delta. For fishing and boat tours, current route conditions and transport times are among the points that should be checked before departure.

Nature in the surrounding region

The entire administrative area of the municipality of Maliuc in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve lies in the regional surroundings of Partizani. A permit for the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve is valid together with a tourist access pass for the RBDD. In the regional surroundings of Partizani, in the area of the municipality of Maliuc, Lake Fortuna, Lake Gorgova and the Olguța Canal are considered tourist attractions.

The lakes and canals mentioned complement the waterscape with named destinations in the area of the municipality of Maliuc. When visiting a biosphere reserve, the applicable pass and permit conditions should be checked before the trip.

History and culture

The historic settlement of Principele Carol was founded in 1899 by some residents of Sarighiol who were looking for good pastureland. In the regional surroundings of Partizani, in the municipality of Maliuc, the Neolithic settlement of Taraschina is designated as a historic monument. The two places represent different historical levels: Principele Carol was established in 1899, while Taraschina is designated as a Neolithic settlement.

The Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel stands in Partizani. Its patronal feast fell on 8 November in 2024. For historic monuments and churches, current visiting hours or dates can be checked before the journey if a visit is planned for a specific time.
