Nature and the Danube Delta

If you would like to consider natural heritage together with a public form of presentation, the Centrul Muzeal Eco-Turistic Delta Dunării combines a museum with a public aquarium. The permanent exhibition of the Centrul Muzeal Eco-Turistic Delta Dunării primarily presents elements of the natural heritage in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve and focuses on this clearly defined natural area.

If you would like to consider the connection to the Danube Delta at a named location in the city, the Faleza “Ivan Patzaichin” is an access point to the Danube Delta. As the main promenade area for the residents of Tulcea and the city’s visitors, the Faleza “Ivan Patzaichin” is explicitly associated with both groups.

Archaeology and Historic Buildings

For a combination of archaeology and a specifically named historic site, the Muzeul de Istorie și Arheologie is located in a building in Parcul Monumentul Independenței. This building stands on the grounds of the ancient fortress of Aegyssus.

The Muzeul de Artă, also known as Conacul Pașei, is housed in a building constructed as a historic monument and dating from 1862 to 1865. The building’s date therefore reaches back more than a century into the city’s history, without changing its designation as a historic monument.

Art and Urban History

If you would like to view different forms of art together in one collection, the collections of the Muzeul de Artă include paintings, sculpture, icons, Oriental art, graphic art and decorative art. Different artistic genres are represented side by side, from painting and sculpture to graphic and decorative art.

Casa Avramide was built by Alexandru Avramide towards the end of the 19th century. Today, Casa Avramide presents elements of the modern history of the city of Tulcea in a contemporary exhibition.

The seat of the Muzeul de Etnografie și Artă Populară is one of Tulcea’s emblematic public buildings. The collections of the Muzeul de Etnografie și Artă Populară reflect a unique cultural model that emerged from the coexistence of Romanians and other population groups.

Memorial Sites and Cultural Heritage

If you would like to include a memorial to a personality from Tulcea County, the Ansamblul Memorial “Ivan Patzaichin” is a monument commemorating the Olympic champion Ivan Patzaichin, who was born in Tulcea County. The site preserves precisely this connection between the monument, his origins in Tulcea County and his Olympic distinction.

The Satul Pescăresc Tradițional is a themed park dedicated to the cultural heritage of the Danube Delta. Its thematic classification refers to the Danube Delta as the explicitly named cultural context.
