Spa Resort and Mineral Water

If you would like to get to know Buziaș through its spa tradition, you will encounter two dated recognitions: in 1839, the town was recognized as a spa resort, and in 1911 officially as a balneoclimatic spa resort. For external applications, carbonated mineral water is used at the spa resort in the form of heated mineral water baths; for internal applications, it is used at the drinking fountains in the park. Since April 2022, the spa resort has had a renovated SPA center whose facilities include a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a whirlpool, a sauna and an artificial salt cave.

The spa resort therefore combines different forms of mineral water use: baths are among the external applications, while the drinking fountains in the park are assigned to internal applications. The renovated SPA center supplements these traditional spa resort features with a semi-Olympic swimming pool as well as a whirlpool, sauna and artificial salt cave.

Culture

If you would like to view folk art in a specific building, the “Iuliana Folea Troceanu” Folk Art Exhibition is located in the childhood home of the namesake creator and collector. The exhibition comprises 900 museum objects, including traditional garments and textiles. These garments and textiles come from the Buziaș area as well as from other places in the Banat and date from 1860 to 1925.

The collection thus combines a specific location with a clearly defined historical period. In addition to their origin in Buziaș and other places in the Banat, it is precisely the dating from 1860 to 1925 that shows the period from which the displayed garments and textiles originate.

History

The Buziaș Colonnade is a 500-meter-long wooden structure in the Byzantine architectural style and is considered unique in Europe. It was built in 1875 at the request of Emperor Franz Joseph. The colonnade connects the Josif Spring, the Phoenix Hotel, the bazaar, the Mihai Spring and the casino.

Its historical description therefore covers its construction, length, style and year of origin. At the same time, the colonnade was not designed as a single building without a surrounding context: its course connects the two aforementioned springs with the hotel, bazaar and casino, thereby bringing together several named points of the spa resort.

Nature

The Buziaș dendrological park covers 20 hectares and is home to many tree species. The most widespread is the plane tree. Associated with the park is the annual Festivalul Veverițelor. It is organized by the town hall and the Association for the Development of the Buziaș Region.

The park therefore includes both the extensive dendrological grounds and the regularly recurring event. Among the many tree species, the plane tree is the most widespread; Festivalul Veverițelor is organized jointly by the municipal authorities and the regional development association.

Wine

The Wine Road initially focused on the Silagiu–Buziaș area. In the region surrounding Buziaș, it includes tastings, vineyard tours and visits to local producers.

The wine offerings therefore extend beyond the initially mentioned Silagiu–Buziaș area into the wider region surrounding Buziaș. The forms of wine experience offered there include tastings, vineyard tours and visits to local producers.

Route

The Buziaș–Nițchidorf–Buziaș route begins in the spa resort of Buziaș. On the return journey, it passes through Vucova, Chevereșu Mare and Bacova. The route is 46 kilometers long.

The route description therefore specifies both the starting and return point as well as the places along the return journey. It initially heads toward Nițchidorf and then returns to Buziaș via Vucova, Chevereșu Mare and Bacova; the total length is given as 46 kilometers.
