Art and Museums

At the Nicolae Grigorescu Memorial Museum, Câmpina presents important works by the artist. The works are displayed in their original setting, where they were located. The interiors, as well as the entire house, have been reconstructed.

The exhibition at the B.-P.-Hașdeu Memorial Museum comprises around 300 exhibits. Family photographs are included alongside documents and manuscripts. Furniture and personal belongings are also part of the exhibition. Old books and portraits complement the collection. The exhibition archive includes the archive of Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu. His designs for Iulia Hașdeu Castle are also on display. First editions of his works and of Iulia Hașdeu’s works are likewise part of the exhibition.

The Hașdeu Museum focuses not only on completed works: its archive, designs, first editions and personal belongings make the collection comprehensible as a mixture of written, visual and material evidence.

History and Exhibitions

The Slobozia Parish Museum opened in 2022. The opening was organised by the Orthodox parish of “Sf.Nicolae”. The museum is housed in the basement rooms of the former metochion of Sinaia Monastery. The former metochion now serves as the parish house.

The Slobozia Parish Museum displays archaeological finds from a unique Bronze Age necropolis. The finds include remains from the three Tei, Noua and Monteoru cultures.

Casa cu Grifoni was the first electrically lit building in Câmpina. After the First World War, the building was given to the Școala de Maiștri Sondori și Rafinori. The school was founded in Câmpina in 1904. It was considered the first school of its kind in the world.

Casa cu Grifoni reflects both the early use of electric lighting and its later use by the school.

The “Schițe și desene” exhibition of Nicolae Grigorescu in Câmpina presents 202 sketches. The subjects include portraits and humorous drawings. Other works are studies of the War of Independence and village life. Animals and landscapes are also subjects of the sketches.

Places in the Surrounding Area

The peaks of Satul Banului and La Copacul Ocolit are located in the area surrounding Câmpina. The peak of Gâlma cu Corni is also near Câmpina. The peak of Tulici is likewise located in the vicinity of Câmpina.

The churches in the area surrounding Câmpina include Biserica Sfinţii Voievozi and Biserica Ortodoxă Cocorăştii Caplii. Biserica Sfânta Treime and Biserica Ortodoxă Tufeni are also located there.

Other places in the destination area include Băneşti, Drăgăneasa, Cheia, Buşteni, Măgurele, Blejoi, Slănic and Strejnicu.

Nature and Leisure

The 550-metre-high Muscel Hill offers views of Câmpina and the surrounding landscape. Parcul Soceram is located on the Muscel Plateau at the northern exit from Câmpina. The park offers opportunities for relaxation, sport and leisure, as well as public food and drink facilities.
