Archaeology and History

The Punctul Muzeal Mixt al Iveştilor contains material remains from prehistoric times. The oldest documented traces of human settlement from the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic were found on the Terasa Ivești. The oldest coins found in the territory of Ivești date from AD 79. They are silver imperial denarii minted under the Roman emperor Titus Flavius Vespasianus.

The archaeological classification thus ranges from the material remains of prehistoric times to the documented settlement traces on the Terasa Ivești. The periods mentioned include the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic. A later historical reference is provided by the silver denarii from AD 79, whose minting is attributed to Titus Flavius Vespasianus.

Church

The “Sfântul Gheorghe” Church was built between 1942 and 1943. General Nicolae Șova participated in the construction of the church as a co-patron while stationed at the military camp in Ivești.
