Şoimi between mountains, nature and cultural heritage

The municipality of Şoimi lies on the border between the Codru-Moma Mountains and the Câmpia Crișurilor. In the village of Șoimi, the ruins of the monastic ensemble of Șoimi at Dealul Cristor are designated as an archaeological relic. The ensemble at Dealul Cristor is dated to the period 1327–1424.

Nature and Landscape

At Dealul Pacău in Borz, within the municipality of Şoimi, there is a nature reserve with Banat peonies. In the downstream section of the ROSCI0061 protected area near Şoimi, rare populations of the fish species Sabanejewia aurata have been identified.

History and Buildings

The wooden church in Șoimi was built using the “în căței” technique typical of Crișana. The wooden church “Sfinții Arhangheli Mihail și Gavriil” in Șoimi was built around 1790 and is a valuable historical monument.
