Discover Mioveni: Culture, Water and Landscape

Mioveni is located on the left bank of the Argeșel River. Its confluence with the Râul Târgului is 2.5 kilometres away. The town lies at the foot of the Pădurea Valea Mare–Colibași hill; the Vieroși and Ștefănești hills adjoin it to the south.

Culture

The Cula Racovița, a historic monument, stands in the Racovița district of Mioveni. The building is 20 metres high and comprises three levels. Its walls are approximately one metre thick.

The giant wooden spoon of Mioveni was officially certified by Guinness World Records on 7 June 2013. It is 17.79 metres long. At its widest point, it measures 1.50 metres. Traditional folk motifs adorn the wooden spoon.

The Biserica „Sfinții Trei Ierarhi“ is the only wooden church in Mioveni. It was built in the Maramureș style. The „Sf. Petru și Pavel“ Cathedral was consecrated in the summer of 2012, following 20 years of community efforts. The Constantin Năstase Ethnographic Museum is housed in the Racoviceanu manor house. In six rooms, it presents collections relating to folk costumes, occupations and coins. Other areas are devoted to art, religious artefacts and ceramics. Weapons and folk art are also part of the holdings. Carpentry, cooperage and blacksmithing are represented as well.
