City history along different routes

Köslin’s medieval defensive walls formed a 1,600-metre ring with 46 battlements and three gates. The Staromiejska Trasa Turystyczna offers a different perspective on the city’s history, passing 28 historic buildings. Information boards and metal markers in the ground point the way. The “Poznaj Historię” route uses QR codes on special signs to tell the stories of nine places along the city’s tourist trail. This lets you choose between a look at historic buildings and short stories about individual places.

Individual buildings also offer distinct points of interest. The castle church, called “Kościół zamkowy” in Polish, dates from the 13th or 14th century, is now an Orthodox church and is listed in the register of historic monuments. The “Domek Kata” is a Gothic town house dating from the 15th century and has been home to Teatr Propozycji “Dialog” since 1964. Those interested in brick Gothic architecture can also follow the first Koszalińskie Quest: it traces the route of brick Gothic architecture, passing significant architectural monuments and exploring Köslin’s history.

Crafts, talks and events

The Zagroda Jamneńska focuses on artefacts associated with Jamneńska culture. It also offers year-round workshops in ceramics, embroidery, small-scale weaving, polychrome woodwork and block printing on fabric. A visit is therefore an opportunity to explore not only objects but also a range of craft techniques.

The Astronomical Observatory offers open lectures on Saturdays as well as lectures in regular themed series. The Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego Amphitheatre hosts the “Kabareton” cabaret festival every year. Alongside the city’s history, astronomy and live performances are also options for visitors to Köslin.

Góra Chełmska, trails and protected nature

On the Góra Chełmska massif, Krzyżanka is the highest peak, at 136.2 metres above sea level. The 12-kilometre blue “Porwanego Księcia” hiking trail runs from Köslin via Sianów to Góra Chełmska and through its woodland. Its length and route offer a clear point of reference for anyone looking to include a longer hike in their stay.

Köslin also includes the protected Rezerwat Jezioro Lubiatowskie im. profesora Wojciecha Górskiego nature reserve and the protected “Wąwozy Grabowe” landscape area. Another way to experience the surroundings is the Koszalińska Kolej Wąskotorowa, which runs historic rolling stock along the Dzierżęcinka River and Lake Lubiatowskie. The hiking trail, protected areas and train ride appeal to different interests and can help you decide what to focus on during your trip.

Water-based activities and active days

Wodna Dolina brings together several activities on the water. It has a city beach with a swimming area supervised in summer and a swimming equipment rental service. Wodna Dolina is also home to Wakepark Koszalin, which has a two-pylon cable lift, equipment rental and instructor supervision. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between swimming and wakeboarding without treating them as the same experience.

The Park Wodny has six pools, including two outdoor pools, as well as the 176-metre-long “Anakonda” waterslide.
