At the archaeological site in Rekowo, the earliest discovered traces of settlement date back to the Stone Age and the Early Bronze Age. The site also includes an archaeologically investigated burial mound cemetery. After an earlier phase with cremation burials associated with the Lusatian culture, dated to around 1200 to 700 BC, one burial mound was reused as a burial site during the Roman Imperial period. This later use is dated to around AD 70 to 230.
