Czersk offers plenty of reasons to explore: the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Czersk, historicist buildings and Art Nouveau on Kościuszki Street add cultural highlights. There are also parks, a nature and forestry trail, and Ostrowski Square with its landmark. When looking for a holiday apartment, it may therefore help to consider whether you would like to focus your stay on architecture, green spaces or both.

Church and architecture in Czersk

The Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Czersk was built between 1910 and 1913. Its distinctive features include a tower with four bells and a Renaissance high altar. The largest bell weighs 1,400 kg. The high altar contains a painting by the Gdańsk painter Herman Han. The construction period, bells and altar offer culture enthusiasts different ways to explore the building; each detail tells its own story about its design.

Kościuszki Street is also worth exploring as part of an architecture-focused stay: historicist buildings stand alongside examples of Art Nouveau. If you want to take in different architectural styles, you can focus on these features rather than limiting yourself to a single period. Together with the church, they offer a cultural perspective on Czersk that differs from the town’s nature experiences.

Squares and outdoor activities

Ostrowski Square is home to the Trout Fountain, a landmark of Czersk, and a pedestrian promenade. Cultural events are also held in the square. This makes it a place that combines a distinctive landmark with a public space and cultural life. If you would like to include urban experiences in your travel plans alongside architecture, Ostrowski Square offers another focus of its own.

Those who want to spend time surrounded by greenery can stroll among trees more than 100 years old in Kociewski Park. Borowiacki Park has a skatepark, playgrounds and a rope bridge with obstacles. The two parks offer different experiences: one is focused on play and exercise, the other on walking among old trees. Families can consider which kind of shared activity better suits their interests, without having to fit every experience into a single type of outing.

Another way to explore nature more closely is the nature and forestry trail, which has a nature and forestry room. Information boards and exhibits help visitors identify trees, shrubs and other plants. The trail is located at the Czersk Forest District, at the forest district headquarters on the Czersk–Chojnice road. It is primarily intended for school groups, but is also open to the wider public. Visitors with children who are interested in plants can make identifying different species part of their visit.

Getting there and choosing suitable accommodation

Czersk has a railway station and a bus station. When planning your journey, you can first check which connection works for you. When choosing a holiday apartment, it is also worth considering which of the town’s features you would like to shape your stay: architecture and culture, time in the parks or a focus on nature.

If you would like to explore more places, you can also find Olszyny, Parszczenica, Charzykowy, Pawłowo, Krzyż, Brusy, Swornegacie and Męcikał here.
