The historic post mills Serwacy and Pankracy stand on a hill at the entrance to Śmigiel from the direction of Poznań. Their names give Śmigiel’s windmill heritage two distinctive landmarks. Visitors interested in the mills can also see inside: groups may visit the interiors on weekdays by prior arrangement with a member of staff at the Śmigiel Town Office. The parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (pw. Najświętszej Marii Panny Wniebowziętej) features two clearly identifiable architectural styles: its main structure is Gothic, while its tower is Neo-Gothic. The church also preserves an early Baroque tomb monument to Urszula Brzeźnicka, dating from 1627. The municipal gasworks complex offers another perspective on the town’s history. It was built in 1902 by the Bremen company Carl Francke. It is the only fully preserved gasworks in the voivodeship and the region, and is considered a unique technical site associated with Greater Poland’s rich gas industry traditions. The Śmigielska Kolej Dojazdowa also preserves an extensive collection of historic infrastructure: its stations, locomotive shed equipment and tracks are almost entirely intact. The surviving collection also includes locomotives, carriages, handcars, coal wagons and forestry wagons. The range of facilities and vehicles makes the railway a subject in its own right, alongside the windmills and gasworks.
Śmigiel’s notable buildings also include the old brewery building. Another striking figure is the height of the water tower: 49 metres.
