Palace History and Cultural Heritage
The Neoclassical palace of the Princes Jabłonowski dates back to the 18th century. It was designed by Dominik Merlini. Its architecture and the historical roles the residence has played form a distinctive part of Racot’s cultural history. In 1921, the palace was granted the status of a residence of the Presidents of the Republic of Poland. Its cultural past is also remarkable: the palace had one of the first court theatre stages in Poland, where works by Józef Wybicki and Wojciech Bogusławski were performed.
The history of the stud farm also has several significant dates. Local horse breeding dates back to 1925; in 1928, the Racot State Stud Farm was established on the palace estate. The adjoining park was laid out in the English style. The palace’s coach house displays a preserved carriage in which Ignacy Jan Paderewski travelled in December 1918. The architecture, park design and this historical detail offer different ways to explore the town’s past.
The church in Racot offers another perspective. It is the palace chapel belonging to the Jabłonowski family and is dedicated to Saint Stanislaus and Saint George. Throughout its history, it served both the Catholic and Protestant communities. The Protestant congregation in Racot was founded on 18 March 1817. This story adds the town’s religious development to its palace and theatre history.
Horse-Riding Activities and Stud Farm Traditions
Racot Stud Farm offers recreational horse riding and riding lessons for beginners, including adults and children. The equestrian facilities include an indoor riding arena, an outdoor riding arena, a hippodrome and parkland suitable for riding. Children can enjoy supervised 20-minute pony rides with an instructor, during which they can try simple exercises. The stud farm also offers hippotherapy for people with health problems.
The activities vary by type and target group: alongside recreational riding and lessons, there are timed pony rides for children and hippotherapy as a separate service.
