History and landscape in Valdagno

Villa Valle was built at the end of the 16th century based on a design attributed to Girolamo Frigimelica Roberti. The historic centre of Valdagno is considered one of the best-preserved smaller centres in the Veneto. Parco La Favorita was designed in the 1930s as part of the Città Sociale. The Città Sociale is also called Città dell’Armonia. The townscape therefore brings together a building from the late 16th century and the Città Sociale, designed in the 1930s. In Valdagno, the park is a landscape complex of approximately five hectares with extensive tree cover and architectural elements.

The Museo Civico Dal Lago documents the long-standing presence of humans in the upper Agno Valley from the Neolithic period to the Middle Ages and includes mineralogical, botanical and zoological collections. On Saturdays, the museum is open from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; on other days, visits are possible by prior reservation. This provides a fixed Saturday visiting window alongside reservations on the other days.

Valdagno’s textile history also has a specific place. The Museo delle Macchine Tessili is located in part of the textile laboratories of IIS Marzotto-Luzzatti in Valdagno’s Città Sociale. The museum offers a virtual tour and an audio guide; visits are possible by registering at museo@comune.valdagno.vi.it.

The Galleria dei Nani is located in the former stables of Palazzo Festari and is used for temporary exhibitions.

Trails with different focuses

The Itinerario Energia allows visitors to discover 14 hydroelectric power plants, aqueducts, numerous canals and reservoirs, tunnels between the valleys and viaducts over approximately 10 km through the valley.

There are also shorter options with different focuses. The Sentiero Braggion is an approximately 7 km circular route through the Valle del Boia. The Valdagno area also has six nature trails for which maps and guides have been produced. These six nature trails have a different focus from the Itinerario Energia and its technical installations. Within the municipality of Valdagno, the Ciclabile Agno-Guà runs from Ponte dei Nori along the stream to Piazza Cavour in the Città Sociale. At approximately 7 km, the Sentiero Braggion is shorter than the approximately 10 km-long Itinerario Energia.

Maresina and Fritola in Valdagno

Maresina is part of the local character. In Valdagno, it has had the municipal designation Erba madre since 2012. Above all, it is associated with the traditional Fritola, a dough made from flour, cooked rice and water.
