The trail network around Posina includes several CAI trails with different routes. CAI Trail No. 366, the Strada delle 52 Gallerie del Pasubio, leads from Bocchetta di Campiglia to Porte del Pasubio. Trail 377, Val Sorapache, leads from Contrà Lissa through Val Sorapache to Porte del Pasubio. From Fusine through Val del Rio to Pria Forà runs CAI Trail No. 480. Trail 499 leads from Contrà Balan over Colletto di Posina to Monte Novegno. The four routes therefore extend from Bocchetta di Campiglia and Contrà Lissa to Porte del Pasubio, as well as from Fusine to Pria Forà and from Contrà Balan to Monte Novegno.

Hiking routes with a broader landscape setting

The European long-distance hiking trail E5 runs through the Posina trail network between Porte del Pasubio and Monte Maggio via Passo della Borcola. The Percorso Laghetti di Val Posina bears this name.

Rock history and Santa Margherita d’Antiochia

The Strada delle 52 Gallerie del Pasubio consists of 52 galleries carved into the rock and can only be traversed on foot. The historic portal of the first gallery on the Strada delle 52 Gallerie del Pasubio was built in 1917.

The cultural history also includes the original church of Santa Margherita d’Antiochia, which probably dates back to the 13th century. It stood along the Via dei Pastori, a transhumance route that led from Lessinia to the Asiago Plateau. The church’s most recent restoration took place in 2007.

Gorge, mountain ridge and trout-rich streams

The road into the Posina valley passes through the Stretta degli Stancari gorge, formed by the Priaforà and Cimone mountains. The 1,500 m-high Monte Maio separates Posina’s main valley from the Zara Valley of the municipality of Laghi. The trout-rich streams in the Posina area are a sporting attraction. The valley therefore offers both distinctive landforms and a concrete point of reference for active pursuits.

Potatoes, gnocchi and Fonti di Posina

Posina is particularly tangible through its produce. The potatoes grown in Val Posina include the Bintje, Desirèe and Kennebek varieties, as well as smaller quantities of Spunta, Liseta and Primura. In Val Posina, the limited, predominantly sandy growing areas allow, among other things, for the cultivation of potatoes and beans. Potato production in the Posina region is linked to a two-hundred-year agricultural tradition.

The particularly valuable, floury potatoes from Val Posina are ideal for preparing gnocchi, which are considered a culinary specialty of Posina. Mineralized water emerging from the rock in Posina is bottled under the name Fonti di Posina.
