Tottubella combines cultural sites, religious festivals, Sardinian traditions, local cuisine and a landscape featuring several elevations. Its historical perspective ranges from the settlement planned after the Second World War to the ancient, Nuragic and other historical sites around Rumanedda.
Culture and History in Tottubella
The settlement of Tottubella emerged in the period after the Second World War based on a unified plan. Sito di Rumanedda is a Nuragic site in an urban and suburban setting. The post-war development of the settlement and the Nuragic classification of the site represent different historical focuses. For those interested in culture, Tottubella therefore offers two specific themes: the planned origins of the settlement and the historical significance of Sito di Rumanedda in an urban and suburban setting.
Ponte Romano, an ancient site, is located in the surroundings of Rumanedda. Nuraghe Flumenlongu and Nuraghe Cubalciada are historical sites in the surroundings of Rumanedda. Casa Idini is a ruin in the immediate surroundings of Rumanedda. The area around Rumanedda broadens the historical perspective beyond Sito di Rumanedda and connects different sites with Tottubella. Casa Idini is located in the immediate surroundings of Rumanedda, while Ponte Romano and the two nuraghi are located in the surroundings of Rumanedda.
Patron Saint’s Festival, Procession and Local Cuisine
Santa Maria Regina is the patron saint of Tottubella. The celebrations in her honour are scheduled for 21 and 22 August 2026. A procession was held in Tottubella on the occasion of her patron saint’s festival. During the procession, the statue was carried on an ox cart. Flags, around ten horses, the Banda di Sennori and Sardinian traditional costumes accompanied it. The procession combines the religious occasion with ox carts, horses, music, flags and Sardinian traditional costumes. In August, the patron saint’s festival was also celebrated as a field festival organised by the parish and an association. The procession and the field festival belong to the same patron saint’s festival, but describe different elements of the occasion.
The Sagra del Maiale is also one of the specific events in Tottubella. The 3rd Sagra del Maiale was scheduled for Saturday, 5 July 2025, at Piazza Don Giovanni Sanna in Tottubella. The focus of this event is on pork dishes prepared by volunteers. Alongside the patron saint’s festival, the Sagra thus provides a separate culinary focus in Tottubella. The volunteers prepare the dishes for this culinary occasion.
Peaks and Mountains in the Surroundings of Rumanedda
The landscape around Rumanedda includes several elevations. Punta de Pastenza, Punta lu Crabileddu and Paris Giega are peaks in the surroundings of Rumanedda. Monte Siareddu is a mountain in the surroundings of Rumanedda. Alongside the historical sites, these elevations form a separate landscape focus around Rumanedda.
