About 1.35 km southeast of Bauladu town centre lies the Santa Barbara di Turre archaeological zone. It includes a complex nuraghe, a settlement with periods of use ranging from the Nuragic era to the Middle Ages, a late antique or early medieval necropolis, and a Domus de Janas. Several eras come together here in one cohesive historical setting.

The Santa Barbara di Turre nuraghe has a four-lobed layout. It consists of a single-storey main tower and two secondary towers connected by a wall enclosing the courtyard. Its unusual ground plan makes the structure a particularly vivid feature within the archaeological zone.

Archaeological investigations at Santa Barbara di Turre yielded evidence of metalworking and craft production. The site dates to the period between the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age.

The Church of San Lorenzo was built in the 12th century by Camaldolese monks from Santa Maria di Bonarcado. Its construction adds a medieval chapter of the local religious culture to the older archaeological evidence.

The Church of San Gregorio Magno in Bauladu was built between 1205 and 1228. This clearly defined period gives the building a precise historical context.

The portal of the Church of San Gregorio Magno is decorated with a late-sixteenth-century limestone relief in the Gothic-Catalan style. The relief depicts the Virgin and Child between two angels and adds an artistic accent to the church.

Hills, Woodland and Nature Park

The rural Church of Santa Vittoria stands on a hilltop, overlooks Bauladu and offers panoramic views. Here, a religious site, its elevated position and a broad view over the town combine to create a distinctive landscape impression.

The Crabia nuraghe is 12 m high and stands on a rise in a light cork-oak woodland in Bauladu. This gives the structure a natural landscape setting that complements its archaeological significance with an immediate natural dimension.

Bauladu has a large nature park with rare reptiles, including the Aesculapian snake and the Sardinian snake.

The Zinnuri spring is located amid the greenery of the municipal park and is suitable as a place to rest. It therefore adds a spot where a journey through Bauladu can also include a deliberately planned break in nature.

Cycling and Local Cuisine

At the Sagra della Pecora held in Bauladu on 22 June 2019, traditional local dishes based on sheep meat were sampled. The event highlights a culinary side of the town that, alongside its architecture and landscape, can provide a distinct reason to visit.
