Sa Copelcada is one of the very rare Sardinian examples of a burial monument of the “Allée couverte” type. In the village, the parish church of Sant’Andrea Apostolo dates from 1676. A mural by Pina Monne is located in Piazza Rimembranza in Sennariolo. There is also Nuraghe Liortinas, a rare and imposing example of a nuraghe with a circular corridor. A few kilometres from Sennariolo are also the ruins of the San Quirico sanctuary. A local road leading from the village southwards branches off to the Romanesque church of San Quirico near Sennariolo; then turn left and continue for 900 metres.

Products and Carnival tradition

Sennariolo is known for producing Pecorino, as well as for beekeeping and olive groves, which yield honey and olive oil of excellent quality. A culinary speciality of its own is Cattas: spiral-shaped pancakes traditionally prepared in Sennariolo for Carnival. These themes give you direct access to the region’s flavours and the village’s festival culture.

Religious customs in the village

Su Settenariu is part of Sa Chida Santa in Sennariolo and lasts seven days; afterwards, the brotherhood’s choir sings the Stabat Mater. A Way of the Cross procession passes through Sennariolo’s old town at sunset, following an old tradition. Such customs give the village’s history a temporal and communal dimension that differs from the archaeological monuments and culinary themes.
