Historic Centre and Wine Tradition

In the historic centre, old houses and narrow, winding alleyways shape the townscape. The Chiesa di Santa Croce dates from the late 14th or early 15th century and provides a specific historical marker in the town’s history.

The landscape around Magomadas is primarily devoted to producing wines belonging to the D.O.C. area of Malvasia di Bosa. At the Enoteca della Malvasia di Bosa, you can learn more about the local wine tradition while tasting local wines.

Nuraghi between Valley and History

Nuraghe Andula is a circular, single-tower monument with a circumference of approximately 37 metres; three rows of medium-sized basalt blocks have been preserved. Nuraghe Sebes is the only partially preserved Bronze Age monument in the surrounding area and is provisionally considered a single-tower tholos nuraghe. Nuraghe Sebes dominates the Modolo Valley.

In Località Puttu are the now only partially visible remains of a nuragic well temple. The sacred building was constructed using refined isodomic masonry; numerous blocks lie near a newer well that replaced the ancient one.

Nuraghe Oladolzu is situated high above the Modolo Valley and the coast; its location points to a strategic function. At Nuraghe Oladolzu, there is evidence of continuity of use from the Nuragic period, including the Late and Final Bronze Age and possibly the Early Iron Age, through the Punic, Republican and Imperial Roman periods and into the Middle Ages and the modern era.

Viewpoints and Coastal Landscape

Sa Costa is a tourist viewpoint from which the Modolo Valley and the territory of the municipality of Bosa can be seen. From the top of Nuraghe Lorio and from Belvedere Santu Nigola, a stretch of coastline can be seen from the Cuglieri area to the borders between Bosa and Alghero.

The area around Magomadas is characterised by light-coloured beaches, rugged cliffs and untouched, deep-blue waters. Alongside the historical themes, this also places expansive landscapes at the centre of your travel planning.

Practical Information for Your Stay

Magomadas can be reached via the SS292; the exit is located at kilometre 76. Nuraghe Sebes can be reached via the road to Modolo: shortly outside the town, on the left, above the municipal water reservoir. Nuraghe Andula is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.

This allows families with different preferences to weigh up cultural discoveries, local wines and landscape impressions.

Festivities in May and August

Two festivities with processions and concerts in the square take place in the third week of May and the third week of August. These two dates complement Magomadas’s archaeological, historical and landscape themes with community events.
