Geographical location

Mernye is located in Southern Transdanubia and in Somogy County. The municipality lies 17 kilometres northeast of Kaposvár, the county seat and district centre.

Roads 6513 and 6548 intersect in Mernye, while main road 67 runs west of the settlement. Mernye is connected to the Kaposvár–Siófok railway line. Bus connections are available to Polány, Somogygeszti and Szentgáloskér, as well as to Kaposvár via Somogyaszaló.
