Felsőmocsolád: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

History

Felsőmocsolád was first mentioned in a document in 1229 under the name Muchula. The settlement dates back to the Árpád era and already existed before the Mongol invasion.

The Kacskovics–Bánó Castle in Felsőmocsolád includes a manor house built in 1790 by Derenkai Erőss József. The Munkás Szent József Church was converted from a castle built in 1790; its tower was added in 1955.

The Reformed Church of Felsőmocsolád is considered late Baroque and was extended in 1821.

Culture

In the village centre, a 100 m² promenade offers cyclists a place to rest. The renovated exhibition building is easily accessible to wheelchair users and visitors with pushchairs. Also in the village centre is an exhibition room that is accessible year-round and features an interactive escape-room game.

Nature

Felsőmocsolád is partly within the “Mocsoládi-erdő” Natura 2000 site. 29.52 hectares of the site lie within the municipality; this corresponds to 1.14% of its total area and 1.79% of the municipality’s area.

Pokol torka is a distinctive natural formation in the forest: a deep ravine or loess gorge with a small stream. A spring now trickles quietly in the crevice of this gorge.

A spring rich in water, named Malom-árok, flows towards Felsőmocsolád. The National Blue Trail passes through Felsőmocsolád. The Old Linden Tree can be reached from the castle in no more than a ten-minute walk.

Getting There

On the old Road 67, tourists travelling to the region from Lake Balaton and Kaposvár can rest under suitable conditions.
