Jerrishoe: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The 43-kilometre Great Inland Tour includes Jerrishoe. It traverses a vast landscape characterised by a dense network of hedgerows and small villages. Most of the route runs along quiet roads and agricultural tracks.

History

Jerrishoe's roots date back to 1196. The place name is explained as a combination of the personal name Jerrik and “hoe”, meaning hill. A local interpretation also connects the name with the extraction of iron from bog iron ore, which was carried out in the region for centuries.

Nature

The nature conservation project in Jerrishoe comprises 25 tree islands, each measuring approximately 20 by 20 metres. Pastureland remains between the tree and shrub islands. The mix of trees, shrubs and open spaces creates sunny, sheltered spots as well as cooler, shady areas.

The project aims to promote native flowering plants and provide food for wild bees, butterflies, hoverflies and bumblebees. The nearby Treene Round Tour leads along extensive forests, meadows, fields and the Treene River.

Regional Offerings

Jerrishoer Hof Neue Erde sells grain and potatoes mainly through its farm shop. In addition to these products, the range includes fruit, vegetables, baked goods, eggs, spices and animal feed. The farm bakery produces bread, bread rolls and other baked goods three times a week.

During the summer season, canoeing is possible nearby on the Treene, starting from the launch site in Langstedt.
